College Football Playoff rankings predictions: What the final CFP top 25 could look like

The college football standings released earlier this week, the conspiracy going over the conference championship weekend has been dramatically shifted as several teams battle for the final place in the four-team field. Georgia remained strong at number 1, after Michigan being number 1 it reached number 2 Ohio State last weekend and the TCU regular season finished 12-0. A loss to USC they slipped to fourth place, but the Trojans are in an uncertain position as they know they can’t slip into the PAC-12 Championship game. If USC number 11 falls to Utah, it will be gulled by number 5 or number 6 Buckies Alabama.

Let’s take a look at who was overrated and underrated in the final version of the ratings.

For what reasons on this planet Tennessee ranked over Alabama? Because this is a bad defeat for number 19 South Carolina? This looks better now than two weeks ago when the world thought South Carolina was an average SEC East team with no reversal. On the contrary, Alabama lost to number 14 LSU – Tennessee team suppressed at Baton Rouge – Texas A&M looks even worse after losing to the Tigers last weekend.

Oh, and that’s a weird head-to-head game on October 15th when the volunteers top Crimson Tide 52-49. This should be important, but it clearly isn’t. Why? Is it because Volunteers star quarterback Hendon Hooker broke his ACL against South Carolina and Joe Melton is on top now? The committee is looking into this, but it’s not enough to convince me.

LSU’s analysis involves Tennessee vs Alabama analysis above, but it really shouldn’t be a big discussion point. No way the Tigers are #14 after that defeat at College Station, Texas last weekend. Beaten 38-23 by the Aggies team for not scoring more than 31 points against an opponent this year, it finished with injuries and never got motivated on a 6 straight game stretch.

If Texas A&M could light up the LSU defence, what would be number 15? Oregon number 16 Oregon or number 17 Univer- sity of California an act? This is going to be very, very ugly. Head coach Brian Kelly’s nine-win regular season is a huge achievement in his first year, and very few outside Baton Rouge, Louisiana. But they struggled against Arkansas then he lost to Texas A&M when Target got on his back. This is all that matters.

Seems like there is an unexpected response to all PAC-12 teams being overrated and disqualified from national recognition, and Washington’s No. 12 ranking proves it. The Hawkies have Michael Benix Jr., one of the top 10 players in Roma O’Donzie, top five scorers (40.8 points per game) and second best PAC-12 per yard. Game (5.52). Losing number 17 UCLA makes sense, but Arizona is holding them back next week’s loss. But Utah – one place ahead of Washington – there are three losses, one of which the El Florida team went 6-6. Kansas State had three very strong losses (Number 18 Tulane, No 3 TCU and No 20 Texas), but still suffered three losses. An argument could also be given that Washington’s start is more impressive with a win over No. 15 Oregon and No. 16 Oregon CLEMSON signature beats number 13 Florida.

As per the prediction the final Playoff standings could be like this.

  • 1. Georgia

  • 2. Michigan

  • 3. TCU

  • 4. Ohio State

  • 5. Alabama

  • 6. Tennessee

  • 7. Penn State

  • 8. Clemson

  • 9. Kansas State

  • 10.Utah

  • 11.USC

  • 12 Washington

  • 13. Florida State

  • 14. LSU

  • 15. Oregon State

  • 16. Oregon

  • 17. Tulane

  • 18. UCLA

  • 19. South Carolina

  • 20. Texas

  • 21. Notre Dame

  • 22 – UCF

  • 23 – Miss. State

  • 24 – NC State

  • 25 – North Carolina
