Several nations have bestowed the highest civilian honours on Prime Minister Modi. These honours reflect India’s expanding international relationships.
During his recent visit to Papua New Guinea to attend the third India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC) Summit, PM Modi received the highest civilian awards from the island nations.
In an exceptional honour for a non-Fijian, Prime Minister Modi was awarded “The Companion of the Order of Fiji” by his Fijian counterpart Sitiveni Rabuka for his international leadership worldwide. According to the Prime Minister’s office, it is a Big Honour for India and only a handful of Non-Fijians have received this honour till now.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Prime Minister Modi devoted his tribute to the citizens of India and generations of the Fiji-Indian community who have contributed an important part to the unique and persistent connection between the two countries.
PM Modi was awarded the Grand Companion of the Order of Logohu (GCL) by Papua New Guinea for championing the cause of Pacific Island unity and promoting the cause of the Global South. This award has been given to a handful of non-residents of the island nation.
