A worn-out Wolverine is recovering from his wounds when he encounters a brash Deadpool who has travelled through time to treat his best friend in an effort to get to know the wild animal and work with him to defeat a common enemy.

Films featuring Deadpool before this one were created by 20th Century Fox and took place in the same world as prior X-Men movies. Only one pre-acquisition franchise, Deadpool, is expected to continue under Disney.
