Elf is a 2003 American Christmas comedy film written and directed by Jon Favreau. Will Ferrell plays Buddy, a human raised by Santa’s elves who discovers his true roots and travels to New York City to find his original father. In supporting roles, James Caan, Zooey Deschanel, Mary Steenburgen, Edward Asner, and Bob Newhart appear.
Elf, a 2003 holiday comedy hit from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, topped the U.K. home entertainment sales list for the week ending Dec. 27, cementing its status as the region’s best-selling Christmas film in 2022.
The film, which starred Will Ferrell, Bob Newhart, the late James Caan, and Zoe Deschanel, among others, finished at No. 1 for the sixth week and for the third time in 2022. Top Gun: Maverick, from Paramount Home Entertainment, remained at No. 2 for a second week.
The animated title The Grinch from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment jumped to No. 3 from No. 4 last week. The Polar Express, a timeless holiday favourite starring Tom Hanks, moved up to No. 4 from No. 8 before.
Universal’s romance comedy Ticket To Paradise, starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts, entered the Top 10 for the first time at No. 5 after previously ranking 13th.
