Dwayne Douglas Johnson (born May 2, 1972) is an American actor and former professional wrestler better known by his ring moniker The Rock. He was instrumental in the growth and success of the WWE during the Attitude Era, an industry boom era in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and is widely recognised as one of the best professional wrestlers of all time. Johnson wrestled for the WWF/E for eight years before venturing into acting.
Dwayne Johnson is attempting to atone for the ghosts of Christmas past. The Rock, 50, went back to his local 7-Eleven and bought every Snickers bar on the shelf to make up for stealing one “every day” when he was 14 years old.
“I’ve been waiting decades to accomplish what I’m about to do,” he says in a video shared on Instagram on Sunday. As he approaches the Hawaii 7-Eleven, the “Black Adam” actor reveals how he used to stop there every day to take king-sized Snickers bars for his “pre-workout nourishment.”
“I did it every day for over a year,” he adds. “I had to return and purchase every Snickers bar on those racks.”
While the actor was there, he also paid up the tab for several store customers. His total came to $298. He placed the candy bars on the counter and instructed the clerk to give them to anyone else attempting to steal a Snickers.
“After decades of wanting to come back home to 7-Eleven and attempt to make good, that felt really, very nice,” he says at the end of the film. Johnson elaborated in his caption: “We were evicted from Hawaii in ’87, and after all these years – I finally came back home to rectify this injustice.”
