Bengaluru: Following instances of molestation, a large gathering at Kormangala in Bengaluru spiraled out of control.
However, because there have not yet been any complaints filed, the police have not confirmed any such incident. As the large crowd in Kormangala became out of hand, the police used the lathi charge.
Because people were staring at people dancing inside pubs, the police said they had to go for a lathi charge.
The incident
On Church Street, it is alleged that a woman was molested with her boyfriend present. Her boyfriend pounded the criminals with his fists. However, the criminals were able to flee before the authorities arrived.
The victim’s complaint and the incident’s confirmation by the police were not available. Bengaluru police turned to lathi-charge at Kormangala on a few events to control the group as individuals were remaining external the bars to see individuals moving inside the bars.
Church Street, Brigade Road, and MG Road saw the deployment of a significant number of police officers. The police set up 37 women’s safety islands throughout the city and in the CBD to protect women. Every 100 meters, watch towers were built.
People were seen being instructed to wear masks by BBMP marshals at Church Street and other connecting roads. Any attempts to sell drugs were being monitored by plainclothes police officers. In the city, around 14,000 police officers were stationed.
On MG Road, Brigade Road, Church Street, Koramangala, Indiranagar, JP Nagar, and other areas with numerous pubs, additional security personnel were deployed. In order to prevent drunk driving, check posts were placed at 200 points.
The drivers were booked by the personnel at the posts, and they also made sure the violators got home safely.
In light of concerns about Covid, here are some details about New Year’s Eve festivities:
1) In a video that was shared by the news agency ANI, officers in Bengaluru were seen using force to control crowds. The authorities had stated earlier this week that celebrations could only be held until one in the morning at hotels, resorts, restaurants, and bars.
2) On Sunday, the Karnataka government also mandated home quarantine for travelers from high-risk nations. From the time they arrive, international travelers from high-risk nations like China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Thailand must be quarantined at home for seven days. According to the news agency PTI, a statement issued by the Health Department for international passengers read, “Once tested positive, the infected persons are to be treated and managed in accordance with the State Covid protocol.”
3) A huge crowd gathered at the famous India Gate in Delhi. Prior to the celebrations, there were more security officers present. According to PTI, the city had approximately 18,000 police officers deployed.
4) In order to control the crowds at the Kartavya Path, which was formerly known as the Rajpath, extensive preparations were made prior to New Year’s Eve. The civic administration was said to have set up parking lots for over 1,000 cars and 40 buses.
