The film business is insatiably drawn to a juicy rom-com novel. The movie, The Idea of You is based on Robinne Lee’s 2017 novel. The trailer was released on Wednesday and it has already amazed the audience at large. Starring Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine once again, the rom-com has made the audience fall in love with them with their new R-rated movie, directed by Michael Showalter and scripted by Showalter and Jennifer Westfeldt.
What’s the Story of this American Rom-com?
The story of The Idea of You revolves around Solène (Hathaway), a 40-year-old single mom who works at an Art Gallery. The story grabs attention when she encounters 24-year-old Hayes Campbell (Galitzine), lead of August Moon Band, also known as the most tempting boyband on the planet.
The story begins with Reid Scott who plays Solène’s husband deciding to end their marriage and cancel his Coachella vacation with their 16-year-old daughter Izzy (Ella Rubin). Solène steps up and plans to chaperone for vacation and accidentally runs into Hayes.
At first, the two met at the backstage at Coachella. Hayes performs and dedicates a song to Solène who is in the audience after which they meet at the art gallery where she works. They kindle a tempting relationship and there is an undeniable spark between them. As he leans towards Solène for a kiss, she says “I am too old for you “and Hayes insists “No, you are not.” As their reckless story begins, the couple starts facing inescapable problems in their relationship. Solène quickly learns that living in the spotlight may not be everything she had planned for.
As rumored, the character Hayes is inspired by the famous pop singer Harry Styles.
In an interview with Vogue, author Robinne Lee states that it was supposed to be a story about a woman approaching 40 and reclaiming her sexuality and rediscovering herself, just at the point that society traditionally writes women off as desirable and viable and whole.”
