Ryan Seacrest dislikes inebriated New Year’s Eve broadcasts.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly on Monday, the presenter of ABC’s “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” praised CNN for their decision to supposedly curtail drinking on-air, which has resulted in some live TV shenanigans from CNN co-hosts Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper.
“I don’t recommend drinking while on the air. I’m not sure how it became a tradition, but it’s probably a good idea (to cut back).” According to Seacrest.
Last year, the TV presenter was the subject of New Year’s Eve celebration after Cohen and Anderson drank tequila shots during the show. Cohen mocked Seacrest and his “group of losers performing” at one point.
“I’m sorry, but you’re seeing nothing if you’re watching ABC,” the “Watch What Happens Live” presenter explained. Cohen subsequently said on his SiriusXM show “Radio Andy” that he was “just foolish and drunk and feeling it” at the time.

‘That is my job,’ Andy Cohen said of his New Year’s Eve celebrations in 2021, dismissing CNN backlash reports.
Seacrest mentioned the dig to EW, saying, “I believe there is a serious journalist and a fun-loving pal, but it’s definitely a good idea (to reduce alcohol). Although the spectators are certainly wishing they drank more. But I believe they muttered something about my show at one point, which I’m sure was due to the booze since I don’t think they would have said anything about our performers if they weren’t drinking.”
