Isha Foundation Founder ” Sadhguru ” Jaggi Vasudev recently underwent brain surgery. The Spiritual leader was admitted to Apollo Hospital on 17th March 2024, Sunday. He was facing internal bleeding. A team of professional surgeons performed the surgery, which successfully stopped the bleeding in his skull. According to doctors, He is making steady progress following the surgery and now has been taken off the ventilator.
A video was posted by the Isha Foundation including Dr. Vinit Suri – a senior consultant neurologist at Apollo Hospital. She mentioned that Sadhguru was suffering from terrible headaches for the past four weeks. “Despite the severity of his pain, he maintains his usual daily schedule and social activities, including hosting the Maha Shivaratri ceremony on March 8.”
“He kept ignoring all of the pain and went on with all of the meetings,” she said. Although there was confirmation that he had to consult Dr. Suri on 15 March as his headache got worse. “We knew right away that something was wrong because the pain was getting worse. He contacts me at 4 p.m., However, I insist on getting an urgent MRI. But he had a meeting set for 6 p.m” doctor said.
“We managed to persuade him to have an MRI, which revealed significant bleeding in his brain. There were indications of a chronic bleed of three to four weeks duration. Also, there was fresh bleeding that occurred within 24 to 48 hours,” stated Dr. Suri. While doctors advised Sadhguru to admit to the hospital immediately, he continued to fulfill his obligations.

However, on March 17 sadhguru had a drop in awareness, including tiredness and weakness in the left leg. He was then taken to a medical facility. Dr. Sudheer Tyagi, Dr. Pranav Kumar, Dr. S Chatterjee, and Dr. Vinit Suri performed Sadhguru’s Brain Surgery. A CT scan revealed a significant increase in brain swelling. And then there was a prompted decision to conduct emergent brain surgery to remove the bleeding in the skull.
Sadhguru has made consistent progress following surgery. There are also improvements in his brain function, overall physical health, and vital signs. He was successfully withdrawn from the ventilator and is presently being monitored at the hospital.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished Sadhguru a quick recovery on X. In response to PM, Sadhguru replies that he shouldn’t be concerned about this as he has a nation to lead. He also replied that he is on his way to recovery.
