On Monday’s episode of Shark Tank India, sharks rejected a proposal only because it would have competed with ‘friend’ Vineeta Singh’s beauty company.
Shark Tank India returned to the small screens with season 2 on Monday. Five sharks including Anupam Mittal, Vineeta Singh, Peyush Bansal, Namita Thapar and Aman Gupta heard quite a few interesting pitches and decided to invest in some of them.
A pitch for a beauty brand, Recode, was rejected, mostly because it competed with Vineeta Singh’s makeup business, Sugar. Many viewers rushed to Twitter to express their displeasure with the practise.

All of the sharks were blown away by how two small-town entrepreneurs pitched their local beauty firm Recode and demonstrated some intriguing business methods that astonished the sharks. Except for Peyush Bansal, they all rejected the pitch just because it was from the same industry as Vineeta Singh.
The Sugar co-founder was likewise taken aback when she learned that Sugar follows Recode on Instagram.
“Disappointed with Shark Tank India this season, impoverished people who have the same line of business as any of the judges will not get investment merely because shark doesn’t want to lose their friend,” a Twitter user said. What sort of reasoning is that?”
“Shark Tank India,” said another. I saw the presentation for the RECODE brand… #sharks people admire you for what you’ve done… but what I saw today, the way the #sugarcosmetics friendship club operated, doesn’t give a thumbs up to the notion of generating finances.”
One more wondered, “why have they converted Shark Tank season 2 into a complete tv serial drama. “I don’t invest in my friend’s rival,” bhai. What’s the matter with you, you’re an investor? I appreciate Peyush’s line, “This is ridiculous.” “On #SharkTankIndiaS2 People Related to Mekup Brand’s, Pharmaceutical, Eyewear, These Sectors Are Closed for Fund Raising So Forget About This Sectors,” a Twitter user pointed out. Shark Tank ka kay Majak Bana Rakha.
Apna group bana ye logon ne Rakha hai is kisko sector me Aage nahi badhne denge (They made a joke out of it. These individuals have formed a group and will not let anybody pass them).” “Lesson of the day from Shark Tank – whether you are a founder from beauty, audio devices, eyeglasses, pharma, or marriage industry, don’t go there!” said another. People are not going to invest. Strange rationale!! Such a negative message!”
